Solid Rock Church of God in Christ

~ Superintendent Jerald K. Simpkins, Sr. ~

Son of the late Superintendent Henry and Missionary Eunice E. Simpkins, of Vallejo, California, founder of the Macedonia Church of God in Christ in Suisun, California. Superintendent Simpkins is the fourth of eight children, seven of them working in the ministry throughout California, Atlanta and Maryland.

Superintendent Simpkins established an unshakable faith in the Lord in 1986 after joining the Glad Tidings COGIC, under the leadership of Bishop J.W. Macklin. He began immediately to operate according to the motto he learned from his parents, SERVING GOD BY SERVING GOD’S PEOPLE: WINNING SOULS TO THE KINGDOM OF GOD. While there he served as President of the Men’s Department, Coordinator of the Worship Division and assisted in much of the early acquisition of properties which make up the GT Campus.

Under the tutelage of Bishop Macklin, Brother Simpkins formally accepted the call to ministry in January 1990 and was ordained as an Elder in June 1993. Superintendent Simpkins served as an Evangelist for several years traveling to assist pastors in building and strengthening their local congregations.

Superintendent Simpkins was called to the pastorate in January 1998, and founded the SOLID ROCK CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST. The Lord has tremendously prospered this multi-cultural work of God. In 2000 Pastor Jerald K. Simpkins, Sr. was appointed to serve as Assistant Superintendent of the Sweet Unity District under the leadership of the late Superintendent A.C. (Dad) Macklin. It was Dad Macklin’s request that Superintendent Simpkins succeed him at his departure to his home in glory.

The Solid Rock Church served faithfully under much adversity, but after several years of moving from one place to another the Lord favored the Solid Rock Church Family to purchase their first church home in Newark, Ca. This was truly a miracle and God has prospered the ministry in it’s new vineyard.

Superintendent Simpkins received his Bachelors Degree from St. Paul Baptist Seminary in Oxnard, Ca. He serves on the Executive Board of the Nor Cal Metropolitan Jurisdiction, as well as, the Executive Secretary of the Jurisdiction. Bishop J.W. Macklin, 2nd Assistant Presiding Bishop of the Church Of God In Christ and Jurisdictional Prelate, appointed Superintendent Simpkins as a Jurisdictional Administrative Assistant in October 2009.

Superintendent Simpkins has been married for 36 years to his loving wife and best friend, Missionary Sheila A. Simpkins and they have 3 children, Jerald II, Eric, and Briana and one grandson, Keijon.
